UI student killed, two others injured in Ibadan accident

A young female student, alleged to be an undergraduate of the University of Ibadan and identified as Baliqs Olajumoke Adeniyi,  on Friday morning died in an auto crash involving a tricycle, popularly called Keke Marwa, and a waste disposal truck in Ibadan, the Oyo state.



The incident, it was gathered occurred around 9.20 am at Leventis bus stop, along Sango-UI road, Ibadan.

An eyewitness informed that Miss Adeniyi, who was said to be returning from a bank to do transactions in a bank in her status as student, was discovered to be a student of the University of Ibadan when an identity card of the institution was found on her.

Two other victims who had fractures in their heads and legs had been taking to the hospital for treatment.

The sources informed that the accident was as a result of a bin disposal truck that was parked on the road.

According to the account, the tricycle with number plate RU 152 UP ran into the waste bin disposal truck with the description MARC LAMMERTYN.

According to the sources, “The lady was coming from GTB bank at Ajibade bus stop where she went to pay her school fees. Her phone and bag were recovered and this was what makes it easy for us to know that she is a student.”

Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in the state, Mr Oluwaseun Onijla who confirmed the incident promised to send full details of the incident, but yet to do so as of at the time of filing this report.

However, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Gbenga Fadeyi who also confirmed the incident, said an investigation is ongoing on the cause of the accident.
