Inter Milan agree personal terms with Romelu Lukaku but fear Manchester United won’t lower £70m price tag

Inter Milan have agreed to meet Romelu Lukaku’s £175,000-a-week wage demands as they look to conclude a deal for the Manchester United striker.

Incoming Inter boss Antonio Conte has identified the Belgian as a priority transfer target once he takes charge at the San Siro.

Conte tried to sign Lukaku in 2017 but United hijacked Chelsea’s move for the then-Everton striker to take him to Old Trafford.

Lukaku has been told he’s surplus to requirements under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Norwegian is keen to free up space in his attack for promising youngster Mason Greenwood.

The Belgian’s wages thought to be a stumbling block but the Mirror claim Inter have agreed to pay Lukaku what he earns at United to smooth over a deal.

However, the Serie A giants had hoped to sign Lukaku for around £50m but United value him at closer to £70m.

United paid Everton £75m for Lukaku in 2017 and do not feel that his value has significantly dropped since then.

Inter may struggle to stretch that far but a compromise is likely for a player who is just 26 years of age.
