BREAKING: Lagos reopens worship centres

Amid spike in the Covid-19 cases, Churches and mosques in Lagos State will reopen from August 7, 2020 Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared.

Sanwo-Olu made the announcement during a briefing on COVID-19 at the State House in Marina.

The Governor has also increased public gatherings capacity from 20 to 50 people.

Night clubs however remain shut, Sanwo-Olu ordered.

Sanwo-olu said mosques will be reopened next week Friday, churches will follow suit on Sunday.

According to the governor, religious leaders must make available hand sanitisers, thermometers, adding that the state government will ensure that social distancing is maintained.

Worship centres and other social gatherings were banned in the state since March as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the government has directed all the SS3 and Technical Studies (TEC3) Students in both day and boarding schools in the State to resume on Monday, 3rd of August, 2020 in line with the directive of the Federal Government.

The directive became imperative due to the newly announced date by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for the 2020 WASSCE scheduled to commence on the 17th of August, 2020.
